Nurmagomedov Taps McGregor & Bedlam Ensues

Finally! The Real People’s Red Head has come back to The Weigh-In!

Let me start off by saying my bold prediction of Nurmagomedov vs. McGregor was wrong. I did not account for Nurmagomedov laying on McGregor and zapping the life out of him. Even still, McGregor looked like he could have still done something in round four. However, as we all feared, Nurmagomedov proved too much on the ground.

Round one opened with good movement from both fighters. Nurmagomedov grabbed McGregor’s leg and it looked promising that McGregor may escape, but he was not able to. Round one ends with McGregor landing a stiff jab and Nurmagomedov sitting on him for the rest of the round. It was very boring but much anticipated.

Round two had a shocking moment, which was Nurmagomedov landing a punch that sent McGregor stumbling. However, even with minimal success in the stand up game, Nurmagomedov takes McGregor down and sits on him for the majority of the round.

Round three was McGregor’s round, and he showed what would happen if the fight remained on the feet. In round three, McGregor showed why he is one of the best strikers in MMA. McGregor landed multiple shots in round three and he could have even possibly won the round. I would give him the round but I might be biased... I am related to the man after all.

Round four had me crying and questioning everything I knew in life. Nurmagomedov takes McGregor down and though McGregor puts on a good fight, he gives up his back and Nurmagomedov wins by choke. The choke looked more like a neck crank but either way, it made McGregor tap.

Nurmagomedov then won and I was super bummed, due to my love for McGregor. However, as many of you know by now, the fight was not over. Nurmagomedov lost his mind and jumped cage, going after Dillon Danis who is one of McGregor’s training coaches. Danis is known as a ju jitsu specialist and is highly regarded in the world of MMA.

As if Nurmagomedov jumping the cage and starting a riot was not enough, one of Nurmagomedov’s entourage snuck into the cage and hit McGregor with a right hand. How despicable is this shit? This is worse than Steve taking a “plus sized” model out for a nice steak dinner and sneaking out of her place the next morning, only to never call her again.

McGregor remained gracious in defeat. He has even stated he will not press charges, something that Nurmagomedov is most likely not familiar with. I hope they have a rematch, but who knows what will happen due to Nurmagomedov’s actions after the win. Congratulations to Nurmagomedov. Like McGregor, I too am gracious when proven wrong.

Bold Prediction for McGregor vs. Nurmagomedov

Finally! The Real People’s Red Head has come back to The Weigh-In!

McGregor allows Nurmagomedov to challenge him tonight. You fans of The Weigh-In are in for a special treat. You are not going to see the headlines that every other combat website has going on right now. We here at The Weigh-In pride ourselves on honest reporting without fear of consequences.

What I am referring to is the fact that every other news outlet is referring to this as the biggest fight of all time. Give me a fucking break. If this match ends up breaking any records it has everything to do with McGregor’s star power and nothing to do with Nuragomedov. Honestly, as we find ourselves on the eve of the fight, I am still shocked it is happening. Are we actually going to see Nuragomedov be healthy and report for a major fight?

I take nothing away from Nuragomedov. It is no secret he is a fucking magician on the ground. However, if we truly breakdown these individuals, we have to discuss everything. Khabib has constantly folded under pressure, though his record may not reflect this fact. How soon we forget that Nuragomedov was slated to go against Tony Ferguson four different times. This match never happened due to a series of odd injuries and horrific weight cuts.

So let us all assume Nuragomedov makes it to the fight tonight and UFC 299 goes off without a hitch. What are we talking about now? I for one think, and I am willing to put it out there, McGregor wins! That is right, I am man enough to fucking pick a winner and put my name on it. I am not solely picking McGregor because we have so much in common and both are from Irish decent. Rest assured, the list of things McGregor and I have in common are fucking down right eerie. Please see my list below:

Both of us have huge wrenches
            Both have hot wives
            Both came to takeover
Both start the day off with a bowl of lucky charms
Both have pots of gold hidden all over the fucking globe

I am picking McGregor because he will once again prove that he is meant to be on the big stage and is one of the best students of mixed martial arts. Nuragomedov is likely to find himself in a similar situation as Eddie Alvarez, gun shy on the ultimate stage in a battle against the UFC’s biggest star. Let us also not forget McGregor is now fighting because it is in his blood.

Think about that last sentence people. McGregor is cashing more checks and breaking more necks than a helicopter salesman at the Catalina wine mixer. McGregor does not have to fight but he is choosing to fight. Everything the man touches turns to fucking gold. I personally hope that he is motivated by how big this event is. The size of this event has little if anything at all to do with Nuragomedov. It pains me to write it people, but it is true. Nuragomedov lost his fan base when the Ferguson fight was cancelled for a fourth time.

Now, he does little if anything to promote this fight. However, the comments he does make sound as if he thinks this is the biggest of the fight all time due to his star power. Other sites will not tell you that this is simply untrue. McGregor is a fucking star and Nuragomedov is someone we all admire but lets us down when it counts.

Let me actually get into to some fight styles regarding this pending bout. Nuragomedov is a ground specialist and if he takes McGregor down and smothers him, it will likely lead him to victory. The question in this fight is going to be one of whether or not Nuragomedov can get in to drag McGregor down. Everyone fears this matchup for McGregor but I think McGregor will rise to the challenge once again.

McGregor’s left cross has goodnight implications. In fact, his power is so dangerous that Will Smith is considering starring in a movie where he plays a physician with a terrible accent studying brain trauma in the individuals McGregor has put to sleep. We do not fact check people, but we do call it as we see it. Honestly, everything you read everywhere else does not matter. This fight will come down to who imposes their will. Do not buy into Nuragomedov having a much improved stand up because if he was focused on that during training camp, he has already lost.

McGregor does not participate in fights without knowing how to cut to the core of his opponents. DO not concern yourself with the ground game of McGregor. None of this shit matters. This fight comes down to the stage and movement of McGregor. With the tools that we all have seen from beginning, he sends Nuragomedov packing and then truly prepares for the biggest fight of all time, and it’s against Tony Ferguson.

McGregor wins by knockout in the second round, count on it. Justindamous has spoken…

Ladies and Gentlemen,

You heard it from the champ...

Thank you, TMZ for this gem!

Someday we'll get GGG to "weigh-in" (pun intended) on our very own Matt Ward and Dustin Johnson... We have a feeling he will either have no idea who they are and/or feel the same way about them as Borat...

"Riot" at the Amir Khan vs. Carlos Molina Fight (2012)

Matt Ward, Dustin Johnson, and Steve Ward of The Weigh-In made the trek to Los Angeles from the greater Phoenix area back in 2012 to witness Amir Khan knock out Carlos Molina at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena.

The weekend was full of mayhem and antics that regular readers of this website would expect from the likes of anyone associated with this "fine" online publication. Matt Ward got a speeding ticket for driving 20 mph over the speed limit on a lonely stretch of California highway, and proceeded to argue with the cop; Steve Ward almost blacked out on the streets of LA after drinking sake bombs for the first time; and Dustin displayed his functioning alcoholism by waiting for the Yard House near the Staples Center to open on Saturday morning. All things considered, it is amazing that your pals at TWI made it to the show on December 15, 2012!

The real mayhem began after Khan defeated the crowd's "champion." Molina supporters, full of beer and prescription pain killers, were quick to turn their frustration on the 50 or so Amir Khan fans in attendance. This video does just enough to set the tone of the carnage that spilled over from the cheap seats onto the concourse. The video leaves out the footage of police helicopters hovering over the arena, cops decked out in riot gear, and the deployment of pepper spray. It also fails to capture the one and only red head in a sea of angry boxing fans, Dustin Johnson. Some sources covering the fight claim that he actually urinated on himself in a desperate attempt to avoid assailants and escape the arena... You be the judge of that!

Enjoy this "vintage" piece of boxing fan's finest, and remember TWI dudes love all of you... The next time any of us find ourselves in this type of mayhem, we will be sure to have our camera phones pointed towards the action, providing all of you with live play-by-play on Facebook!

Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix Update

Finally! The People’s Red Head has Come Back to The Weigh-In!

We here at The Weigh-In wanted to provide an update on what is going on with the Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix Tournament. This tournament promised to be an action packed tournament, in a winner advances format that would ultimately lead to the Heavyweight Title. In the first match of the tournament Chael Sonnen won over Rampage Jackson.

We now have another fighter who advanced. Matt Mitrione won a decision against “Big Country” Roy Nelson. For Mitrione, this win avenged an earlier loss he suffered to Nelson during his UFC days. Mitrione utilized his reach advantage and kept his distance, which ultimately led to his victory at Bellator 194.

You may recall, we here at The Weigh-In previously predicted if Mitrione got past Nelson, he would win the Grand Prix Tournament. Our opinion most likely does not shock the masses. Last we checked, every ragtag sports site has Mitrione favored. When it comes to the Bellator Heavyweight division, most believe no one can hang with Mitrione’s stuff. The man pisses excellence. It is rumored that mosquitoes will not bite Mitrione out of respect. We here at The Weigh-In do not fact check people, we just report what we hear, and it is why you love us.

Mitrione is now set to take on the winner of the King Mo versus Ryan Bader. The Weigh-In crew suspects King Mo will be victorious, but we hope it is a great fight. There is a lot of buzz out of the Bader camp that Ryan is out to win this whole thing and show the world his level of talent. King Mo is just a bad man with bad intentions. This match is scheduled to take place on May 12, 2018 at Bellator 199. This is a must watch for all MMA fans out there.

The next scheduled tournament fight is rapidly approaching. Frank Mir is set to take on Fedor Emelianenko. This fight has all the trappings of an instant classic. Both men may be full of more tainted meat than Canelo and the Ward Brothers freezer combined. Both Mir and Fedor are out to prove their best days are not behind them. Mir has proven he still has a lot left in the tank as he enters the twilight of his career. Fedor wants to add to his historic resume by winning another title. Tune in on April 28, 2018 to see Mir take on Fedor.

Keep tuning into The Weigh-In for Bellator Grand Prix results. We will continue to follow this tournament until a champion is crowned. In the meantime, we will resume ignoring pornographic materials because we are all sweet boys.
