Matt Ward (MW) is the founder of The Weigh-In: Your Home for Combat Sports. His voice can be heard on a number of the website's podcast episodes. He is an award-winning historian and journalist, who is the author of several articles in publications such as, The United States Army Official Website, The Encyclopedia of Greater Philadelphia, PhilaPlace.org, The Picatinny Voice newspaper, Philly Boxing History, the Journal of the American Revolution, the International Boxing Research Organization (IBRO) Quarterly Journal, MaxBoxing.com, Atlas Obscura and Patch.

Outside of the world of boxing, Matt graduated from Arizona State University in 2007 with a B.A. in History and Culture, and Rutgers University in 2018 with an M.A. in History. He worked in financial services for over seven years and serves as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army Reserve. He is also an Army veteran who served in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2010 to 2011.
